The 2012 Giant Defy Advanced 2 is a high-performance endurance road bike designed to deliver long-distance comfort without sacrificing the responsiveness of a true racing machine. Giant, the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer, pioneered the "Compact Road" geometry seen here, which uses a sloping top tube to create smaller, stiffer, and lighter frame triangles. This XL frame is built from Giant's proprietary Advanced-Grade Composite carbon, featuring a specific layup designed to dampen road vibrations while maintaining high lateral stiffness through the PowerCore oversized bottom bracket area.

A standout feature of this particular build is the 3x10 Shimano Ultegra 6700 drivetrain. While modern road bikes have shifted toward double or single chainrings, this "Triple" configuration offers an incredibly wide gear range, ensuring you always have the right cadence for grueling mountain passes. The stopping power is provided by reliable Shimano 105 dual-pivot calipers. The bike has been tailored for comfort with a 90 mm stem and wide 440 mm bars, providing a more upright and stable cockpit position for taller riders.

The aerodynamic Giant Vector carbon seatpost and the OverDrive 2 tapered steerer tube ensure that the bike tracks accurately through high-speed corners. Rolling on durable Oval Concepts 327 wheels and flat-resistant Serfas Seca tires, this 18.9 lb machine is a formidable partner for Gran Fondos or century rides.
